How World War 1 Impacts Libya

Libya was controlled by Turkey during the Ottoman period. In the 20th century Libya was part of North Africa. Italy had commercial interests there and at the same time Tripolitana and Cyrenaka were given to Italy. "WW 1 causes the Italian troops to be withdrawn until onlt the coastal towns of Libya are safely held" (History of Libya). Tripolitania and Cyrenaka came together in 1934 to form the colony of Libya.
